Mermaid and Seahorse

When I painted this in Photoshop, I wanted to focus only on keeping the shapes and color design very simple, and not necessarily rendering the piece to death, which is what usually happens. I tried using simple gradations and shapes of value to visually separate all the elements. I just keep squinting at the piece to make sure it's clear and legible.

Mario Bros. vs. Goomba

I've had it on my mind to do a piece dedicated to the Super Mario Bros. -- two pop culture characters who were very much a part of my childhood. Maybe it's because I've had the Mario theme stuck in my head for the past two weeks...or the past 20 years. Once again, cut paper on illustration board with some colored pencil.
